Minimum Practice Commitment
Practice Requirements
As with any sport, athletes that practice with the team 100%, possibly adding training on their own, make exponential progress and continue to hone in required skill and fitness. On the other hand, failure to practice the sport results in less than desirable performance results. Athletes who do not ride their bikes at least three times a week run the risk of falling behind their peers in their assigned ride group and may be moved to a group that better matches their pace.
High School
All team members are expected to commit to at least 2 of 3 weekly team practices. Kids who wish to race should try for all 3 practices each week. Due to our maximum headcount limit and frequent waitlist, members who can not adhere to this requirement may be asked to withdraw from the team.
Junior High (DEVO)
All team members are expected to commit to at least 1 of 3 weekly team practices. Kids who wish to race should try for all 3 practices each week. Due to our maximum headcount limit and frequent waitlist, members who can not adhere to this requirement may be asked to withdraw from the team.
****Note on multi-sport athletes:
Our coaches and team management believe in well-rounded athletes who enjoy participating in multiple sports throughout the year. We expect an athlete who is competing simultaneously in another sport during MTB season to squeeze in three bike rides a week until the competing sport is over. These athletes must understand that if they fall behind in their ride group, they might be temporarily moved to a different ride group until their endurance returns.
